Overview

When and Where to See the Best Wisconsin Fall Colors Wisconsin fall colors peak during the first half of October around Wausau, where the Wisconsin River valley turns brilliant red, orange, and gold. Climb the 60-foot observation tower at Rib Mountain State Park, ride the Granite Peak fall chairlift above the canopy on select weekends, or walk the pedestrian bridge over the gorge at Dells of the Eau Claire. For quieter spots, Council Grounds State Park and Big Eau Pleine County Park offer old-growth pines and reservoir views away from the crowds.
