Overview

Tox Pre-Procedure Instruction ·        Avoid alcohol, aspirin, and anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid alcohol two days before the treatment and do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications two weeks prior to injections. This may prevent bruising. ·        Be patient. Remember that it takes three or more days to see an effect and two weeks for the full effect. Do not expect the injection to last forever; the effects of tox last about three to four months before it is time for another appointment.  ·        Beware of complications. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should not use Botox. ·        Know the side effects. Minor bruises and temporary headaches are the most common side effects following a procedure and are usually short lived. ·        Think long-term. With repeated treatment, wrinkles often appear less severe over time because the muscles are trained to be less active.   Tox Post treatment Care   ·        Remain in an upright position for 4 hours. ·        Avoid sleeping on your face, sleep on your back. (This prevents putting pressure on treated areas, allowing it to diffuse correctly into your muscles) ·        No massaging of the treated area for 24 hours. (Touching your face may move the tox to other areas of the face, and that will affect the success of your treatment) ·        Exercise the treated area (wrinkle the forehead, smile, frown, etc.) every so often for 1-3 hours after treatment. This will help with the uptake of the tox. ·        Do not exercise (running, aerobics, weightlifting, etc…) for 24 hours. ·        Avoid heat exposure for 24 hours. ·        Avoid alcohol and aspirin or ibuprofen for 24 hours. (This will thin your blood, which can cause any bruising to worsen) ·        Can take Tylenol for any headaches. ·        Mild bruising may occur. ·        Avoid professional facial treatments for at least 2 weeks after tox. ·        It will take two weeks for the full effect to be achieved. ·        Prevent minor wrinkles from forming.
