Overview

The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs that help to rid the body of toxins and waste. It is a channel that transports lymph, a fluid full of infection-fighting white blood cells throughout the body. It sends the toxins out through the bladder, bowels, skin, and the lungs. The lymphatic system is essentially the information highway of our immune system. Things like surgeries, injuries, radiation therapy, and removal of lymph structures create scar tissue that blocks lymph flow. You may realize you have lymphatic issues if you have sinus trouble, headaches, swelling (edema) in any part of the body, tender cystic breasts, fatigue, and chronic pain syndromes.
